One-Step Seller Sign-up
By default, a would-be seller must register as a customer first, log in, and then apply to be a seller. With the seller sign-up page, people without an account fill in one form that creates the customer account and the seller application together.
It is off by default and only for Multivendor shops.
Turning it on
In Shop Config, Multivendor card, switch on Public seller sign-up page. Only the shop owner can change it, and the shop needs the multivendor feature in its plan. Once on, the storefront shows a Become a Seller button that opens the Become a Seller form. If you use Wording on your storefront, the word "Seller" is replaced by your own.
The flow
- The applicant fills in Your account (name, e-mail, username, password) and Your Seller profile (display name, profile username, description, phone, address, city, Instagram), then presses Create account and apply. Pictures and notes are added by the seller after logging in.
- Etalasse creates the customer account and the seller application together. If anything is invalid, nothing is created.
- The storefront shows "We sent a verification link to ... Open it to verify your account, then log in." There is no logged-in session at this point.
- The applicant opens the link in the verification e-mail, and the storefront shows "Account verified. Please log in."
- They log in with e-mail (Log in with e-mail on the login page). If the e-mail is not verified yet, the login page offers Resend verification e-mail. A forgotten password can be reset with Reset with e-mail.
- Once the e-mail is verified, the application follows your shop's Seller approval setting:
AUTO: the seller becomesACTIVEimmediatelyMANUAL: it staysPENDINGuntil you approve it
Until the e-mail is verified, the application is PENDING, and Seller Center shows "Verify your e-mail first: open the link we sent to your inbox."
What you should know as a merchant
- On the Sellers page, applications waiting for the e-mail are marked Waiting for e-mail verification. Approve and Reactivate are refused with "This seller has not verified their e-mail yet, so they cannot be activated." until the customer's e-mail is verified. Reject and Suspend still work. Sellers you create yourself without a customer account are not affected.
- Someone whose e-mail or phone is already registered in your shop does not get a new account. The storefront shows You already have an account: they log in first and then apply from their profile with the normal Become a Seller flow. One-step sign-up never attaches anything to an existing account.
- Sign-up is rate limited (per IP address and per e-mail) to prevent abuse.
- One-step sign-up uses e-mail registration. Customers who registered through WhatsApp log in as usual and then use Become a Seller from their profile.
- When the switch is off, the form shows Sign-up is not open and sign-ups are refused.
After becoming a seller
Sellers can upload documents for verification, list products, and withdraw according to your payout hold.
