Staff Commission

Staff commission automatically works out how much each cashier earns from the sales they serve, and helps you record paying it. It can be a percentage of the sale or a flat amount per order.

New feature

Staff commission arrives in the round 16 release and is available on the Pro and Enterprise plans. Shops that do not turn it on see no change.

Who earns commission

  • Only orders rung up through a staff login (recognised by the staff account or PIN). Orders rung up by the Owner, and online store orders, earn no commission.
  • Commission is recorded when the order becomes Paid (digital orders when Delivered). A till sale is paid and handed over at once, so commission does not wait for Delivered like marketplace seller commission does.
  • Not retroactive: turning commission on affects only later orders. Turning it off stops new commission, but reversals of earlier commission continue.

Commission rules

Open Staff > Commission > Settings, turn on Enabled, then set the rules:

RuleContent
Percent0 to 100 of the net line total: the line after the item discount, before tax, service charge, and order-level coupon or points discounts. Wholesale, bundle, and flash-sale prices are already inside the line total
Flat amountA rupiah amount once per order, not per unit
Per categoryAlways a percent. Replaces the default for products in that category
Per staffA personal default for one person, and personal category rules

A percent of 0 switches commission off for that scope. A line takes the first rule found, in this order:

  1. Staff + category
  2. Staff (default)
  3. Shop + category
  4. Shop (default)

So a person's own rule beats the shop's category rule. A flat rule adds one row for the whole order, and stacks with percent rows of products that have their own category rule.

Worked example

Settings: shop default 2%, category Drinks 5%, and Ani has a personal default of 3%.

An order of Rp100,000: Milk Coffee (Drinks) 2 x Rp30,000 = Rp60,000, and Bread (Food) Rp40,000. No discounts.

StaffMilk CoffeeBreadTotal commission
Budi (no personal rule)5% (shop + category) x 60,000 = 3,0002% (shop default) x 40,000 = 8003,800
Ani (personal default 3%)3% (staff default) x 60,000 = 1,8003% x 40,000 = 1,2003,000

Ani earns less on coffee because her personal rule beats the shop's category rule. If you want Ani to keep 5% on Drinks, give Ani her own category rule.

Refund: Budi's customer returns 1 of the 2 Milk Coffees. The commission of that line is reversed proportionally: 3,000 x 1/2 = 1,500. Budi's balance from this order becomes 3,800 - 1,500 = 2,300. A flat commission is reversed only when the whole order is fully refunded. A cancel reverses whatever has not been reversed yet, exactly once.

All amounts are whole rupiah. The balance owed can go negative after a late refund, and is absorbed in the next payout period.

Reports

Open Staff > Commission > Reports (Owner and Admin). Choose a date range (default the last 30 days, max 366 days, in the shop time zone), a staff member, and grouping by day, week (starting Monday), or month.

  • Summary: earned, reversed, net, already paid, and balance owed, per staff and per period, plus the number of sales.
  • Commission ledger: every ACCRUAL (+), REVERSAL (-), and PAYOUT (-) row with the order number, basis, and note. The ledger is append-only, never edited or deleted, and each row has a unique key so a retried webhook or a double click never books twice.
  • CSV export with columns date, staff, type, order number, basis, amount, and note.

A signed-in cashier sees My commission (today, this week, owed) from their own account. The Owner has no commission.

Payouts

Choose Mark period paid on a staff member for a closed period (days before today in the shop time zone).

  1. Pick the staff member and date range, add a note if you like.
  2. Etalasse computes the amount on the server (net accruals plus reversals of that period) and shows it. Confirm the amount. If the figure changed since the screen opened, you are asked to confirm again (AMOUNT_CHANGED).
  3. One PAYOUT row goes into the ledger and the balance drops.

Etalasse only records that you paid; the transfer or cash is yours to make. A period overlapping an earlier payout is refused (PERIOD_ALREADY_PAID), a period that is not closed is refused (PERIOD_NOT_CLOSED), and nothing owed is refused (NOTHING_TO_PAY). Two clicks in a row pay once. Payout history is in the Payouts tab.

Plans and roles

FreeGrowthProEnterprise
Change rules, record payouts, new commissionNoNoYesYes

After a downgrade, new commission stops, but reports stay readable and reversals from refunds and cancels continue. Owner and Admin manage rules, reports, and payouts. A Cashier only sees My commission. Kitchen earns no commission.

MCP tools

The AI assistant can read settings, the summary, the ledger, and payouts (staff_commission.get_settings, .summary, .ledger, .list_payouts), change rules with confirmation (.update_settings, .update_staff_rules), and record a payout when you state the confirmed amount (.record_payout). PINs and devices are not available through MCP. See Tool Surface.
