Tag Groups and Storefront Filters
Product tags can be put into groups, for example a "Level" group with the tags Beginner and Advanced, or a "Color" group with Red and Blue. The storefront then shows each group as a filter so customers can narrow products more precisely.
This works for every shop type and is optional: tags without a group appear as the usual flat row of tags.
Creating groups
Open Product Categories → the Tags tab, then add or edit a tag:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tag group | the group name (up to 40 characters). Suggestions come from Existing groups. Empty means a plain tag without a group |
| Group order | a number from 0 to 9999 that orders groups and tags inside the storefront filter |
The tag list is grouped by group; tags without a group appear under Ungrouped. Group names ignore case and edge spaces ("Level" and "level" are one group).
Groups are ordered by the smallest group order inside them, then name; tags inside a group by group order, Sort Order, then name.
Filters on the storefront
On the storefront product list, each group becomes one filter. Customers may select several tags. The rules:
- within a group: OR. Selecting Red and Blue shows products that have either one
- across groups: AND. Selecting Red (Color) and Advanced (Level) shows products that satisfy both groups
- each tag without a group is its own group
- tags that do not belong to the shop or are inactive are ignored; they do not cause an empty result
Tag filters in the seller directory use the same rules: a seller is listed when it has at least one product satisfying every selected group.
Tips
- keep group names short and clear, and avoid groups with a single tag
- attach tags to products in the product form as usual; groups only organize how they are shown
- changes show on the storefront within about 30 seconds
