Choosing Staff
Every timed service has a staff mode that decides whether customers see and choose staff. A staff mode needs a service in Duration mode and at least one active staff member linked to the service.
Four staff modes
| Mode | Does the customer see staff? | Assignment |
|---|---|---|
| No staff (default) | no | the calendar is the resource: the open-hours capacity decides how many appointments run at once |
| Automatic | no | Etalasse assigns a free member |
| Customer chooses | yes, must choose | the customer must pick one member |
| Choose or anyone | yes, may choose or pick "anyone" | if left empty, Etalasse assigns automatically |
Choose or anyone is the most flexible: regulars pick their person, other customers just pick "Anyone" and get more slots.
The "anyone" assignment rule
From the members who are free in that slot, Etalasse picks in this order:
- the one with the fewest bookings that day
- if tied, the one with the lower display order
- if still tied, the one registered first
The aim is to share work fairly. The list of free members in each slot uses the same order, so the first member is the person the customer will get if they choose "anyone".
What the customer sees
On the service page the customer picks a date, then (for modes that allow it) a member or "Anyone", then a time. The list of times adapts to the chosen member. Times with nobody free are shown in grey with a note.
When the member is no longer free
If the chosen member was booked by someone else at the same moment, the customer sees a message that the time is no longer available and is asked to pick another time or member. See Booking FAQ.
Changing the member on an existing booking
When rescheduling, the previous member is kept if still free. If not, a "Choose or anyone" service is moved automatically to another free member. Owners and Admins can also pick a specific member manually.
