Coupons

Use Coupons to manage discount-code-based promotions.

What is on this page

  • a coupon table with Image, Coupon Name (sortable), Coupon Code, Description, Type (badge: Amount, Percent, or Product), Amount, and Appear on Coupon Page (Yes/No) columns
  • search coupons by name
  • actions to add, edit, and delete coupons
  • a per-row Promote action that opens Marketing Center with that coupon preselected

Coupon form fields

  • Coupon Name (required) and Coupon Code (required)
  • Type (required) — the discount kind: Amount (fixed value), Percent (percentage), or Product
  • Amount (required) — the discount value
  • Max Amount — the maximum discount. Leave it empty (or 0) if the discount doesn't need a cap
  • Minimum Transaction — the minimum order value for the coupon to apply
  • Expired Period — validity in days, and Expired Date Claim — the claim deadline
  • Appear on Coupon Page — switch to show the coupon on the public coupon page
  • Description and Image
  • Max Uses — how many times the coupon can be used across all customers
  • Max Uses per Customer — how many times one customer can use the same coupon

Leave both usage limits empty if the coupon can be used without limit.

How the coupon discount is calculated

  • Percent — the discount is a percentage of the purchase, then capped by Max Amount if it is filled in
  • Amount — the discount is the coupon value, but it never exceeds the subtotal. The order total never goes negative. Example: a Rp50,000 coupon on a Rp30,000 purchase gives a Rp30,000 discount
  • Minimum Transaction — if the purchase is below this value, the coupon gives no discount
  • An empty Max Amount means no cap. Previously, a coupon with an empty Max Amount gave no discount at all. This bug is fixed: coupons that used to "not work" because this field was empty now give the full discount. Review your existing coupons and fill in Max Amount if you do want to cap the discount

Expired coupons

A coupon a customer already holds (for example claimed or given as a reward) has an expiry date, and it is now actually enforced:

  • the coupon is valid through the end of the day of its expiry date, in the shop's time zone. A coupon that expires on 31 March can still be used until 23:59 that day, and cannot be used from 1 April;
  • if a customer tries to use an expired coupon at checkout or when checking the code, no order is created and they see "This coupon has expired" (shown in Indonesian when the storefront is in Indonesian);
  • expired coupons no longer show in the customer's coupon list on the storefront, at the POS, and in the customer details;
  • existing coupon data is not changed. A coupon simply stops being usable once its date has passed.

Before, the expiry date was only recorded and a lapsed coupon could still be used.

Usage limits and remaining uses

Once the total usage limit is reached, nobody can use the coupon anymore. Canceled or expired orders don't count, so their use comes back. Once the per-customer limit is reached, that customer can't use it again, but other customers still can.

Customers can see how many uses are left, so they know when a coupon is about to run out. You can use this for limited promos, such as "only for the first 100 buyers".

Typical workflow

  1. define the promotion goal
  2. create the coupon: fill in the name, code, discount type, and value
  3. set the limits: Max Amount, Minimum Transaction, usage limits, plus the validity period and claim deadline
  4. test the coupon in the target sales flow, then promote it through the Promote action if needed

Good practice

  • define the validity period and claim deadline clearly. The dates follow the shop time zone (WIB by default)
  • for percentage coupons, set a Max Amount so the discount stays within a sensible cap
  • for promos with a fixed budget, set a total usage limit so the coupon stops automatically when it runs out
  • set a per-customer limit (for example 1) so one person can't use the same coupon over and over
  • test the coupon in the intended sales flow before promoting it
