Set up your first booking product

Use this guide if your shop is a Booking-type shop — for example lodging, rentals, services, or any schedule-based offering — and you want your first booking product ready to take orders.

The booking calendar menus only appear for Booking-type shops. If Products → Booking Calendars is not visible, check your shop type first.

Key principle: availability belongs to a calendar

In Etalasse, availability belongs to a calendar, not directly to a product. A single calendar can be shared by several products or variants, so schedules do not have to be configured over and over.

1. Plan the calendar structure

Before creating anything, decide which structure fits best:

  • Global — one calendar for the entire shop (good when all services share the same schedule)
  • Product — a calendar dedicated to a single product (good when each service has its own schedule)
  • Seller — a calendar per seller, for multivendor shops
  • Custom — a special-purpose calendar for specific needs

2. Create the calendar and weekly sessions

Open Products → Booking Calendars, create the calendars that match your plan, then configure the weekly sessions — the schedule of available slots and the capacity of each slot.

Open your booking product and link the product (or its variants) to the appropriate calendar. From this point on, the product's availability follows that calendar.

4. Block unavailable dates

Use Products → Blocked Dates to close holidays, maintenance days, or private events. Mind the scope: blocking a date on a Global calendar closes the entire shop on that date, while blocking on a Product calendar only closes that product.

5. Test a booking from a customer channel

Open the booking product from Catalog or Link and place one test booking. Customers see an availability calendar — available, booked, and blocked dates — then pick a schedule before ordering.

6. (Optional) Add duration, staff, and a deposit

If your service has varying job lengths, is performed by particular people, or needs a down payment:

Staff and deposits need the Growth plan (Booking Plans and Roles). Each can be added later without changing your calendar.

How Etalasse prevents double bookings

Etalasse checks for time overlaps, not just exact session matches. A new booking whose time overlaps another booking on the same calendar is rejected — so even when schedules are not identical, any overlap in time is still prevented.

Quick validation checklist

  • the calendars match the planned structure
  • weekly sessions and per-slot capacity are correct
  • products or variants are linked to the right calendar
  • holiday dates are blocked
  • one test booking succeeded, and the booked date shows as taken
  • (if using duration, staff, or a deposit) the times shown match the working hours, and the deposit charged matches the calculation
